The Bell County Public Library District is looking for a Youth Services Librarian!
Our ideal candidate is excited about planning programs and activities for children from 0-18 years at both the Middlesboro-Bell County Public Library and the Pineville-Bell County Public Library.
The Youth Services Librarian will work with Youth Services Assistants at both locations to plan, organize, conduct and promote programs and services for children and teens.
The Youth Services Librarian will also provide off-site programs and community outreach services, including working with other community organizations to provide services to children.
Successful librarians should have a willingness to deliver superlative customer service, familiarity with using computers, printers, cell phones and tablets, and other common technology used in libraries. Excellent reading comprehension skills, familiarity with planning programs and activities for children of all ages, problem-solving abilities and money-handling skills are also required.
The Youth Services Librarian is a full-time position that serves both libraries, spending approximately 50% of each work week in Middlesboro and 50% of each work week in Pineville.
Job Requirements:
Some college and a willingness to achieve and maintain certification requirements for Kentucky public librarians. Demonstrated knowledge of children’s literature and experience with children’s programming.
Extensive computer experience with standard office software, including Microsoft Office products, email, and internet usage. Familiarity with social media, including Facebook and Instagram, is necessary.
Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving history. Personal transportation that can be used for business travel is required.
Willingness to work some evening and weekend hours as scheduled.
